"FRANCE: FROM A SOUTHERN REGION, LA PROVENZA-COSTA AZUL, TO LUZ PARIS CITY"

GRADE: ELEMENTARY-JR HIGH-HIGH SCHOOL

"Art, civilization and culture of peace"

JUSTIFICATION:
To visit France is to live a country with a historical and cultural greatness much wider than its territory of barely half a million square kilometers.

To live France is to discover or rediscover its language: French, as well as its cultural importance; is to enter the language "des Grands Hommes", of the great writers, of the sages of the Encyclopedia, of the philosophers who made history and marked the history, of the poets who, like Victor Hugo, spoke to us of freedom and respect; It is the language of men who for the first time spoke to us about the rights of man as a universal statute. It is also one of the official languages of the United Nations Organization to seek understanding and communication among the peoples of the world.

How to understand and value France and its people if it is not through the French language?

An unforgettable and very enriching experience is to live France in close contact with its people.
That is why CENTROS ECOCLUB begins its interdisciplinary journey with the stay at the International Center of Valbonne "Sophia Antipolis" (C.I.V.), located in the splendid "Cote d'Azur".
The C.I.V. is, undoubtedly, the educational institution, affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organization, largest, most interesting and multicultural in France: thousands of students from 40 different nationalities live daily to bring to the climax the philosophy of an international education aimed at tolerance and respect for cultural differences.
The CI.V. is a true "melting-pot" of languages where French and English are the languages of common use.

Our young Mexican travelers will be able to integrate and communicate, naturally, in French and English, with the CIV students, participating in their morning classes, eating with them in the school restaurant, exchanging ideas, tastes, their culture and their experiences of lifetime.

We will also take the opportunity to discover this magnificent southern region called "Provence" - Provence - where Mediterranean cultures come to life in the daily life of its inhabitants, hospitable people who are surprised by their variety and ease of adapting to the new without losing what they have preserved. years: their customs.

We will visit glamorous cities such as Nice, Cannes, Antibes and Monaco, meeting places of international tourism, and beautiful ports, true places of coexistence; without forgetting Grasse, ancient Provencal city and capital of perfume, where we will discover the secrets of elaboration of the most subtle essences that go into the manufacture of the kaleidoscope of fragrances that France proposes to the whole world.

The "Provence" will fill us with its beautiful fields of lavender, sunflowers, vineyards and olive trees, with its bucolic landscape whose light and atmosphere captured splendidly in his works "the Impressionists"; that is why the visit to the small medieval villages of "l'arriere-pays", chosen by painters to live, is fundamental to understand Modern Art and will prepare us to explore the "Light City", Paris.

The second part of our trip will take us to Paris, one of the "great" cosmopolitan capitals of the world, the scene of important historical periods in the history of humanity. There is no other city in the world that cares so much for its beauty, the urban layout and the visual effect. Paris, proud of its exceptional heritage, is also a meeting point for the most varied cultures and sensibilities that intermingle and end up merging with the peaceful pace of the Seine.

The "Impressionism" artistic movement of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, will be our point of connection between the "Provence" and the Parisian region. In Auvers-sur-Oise and the Orsay Museum, we will witness the impressionist genius initiating us as critics of modern art.

The Louvre Museum will open the doors to the greatness of the art of antiquity; medieval imagery and Renaissance painting will captivate us with the unparalleled works of Leonardo Da Vinci. We will learn to appreciate the work of this artist who defined himself as a researcher, scientist and painter.

We will know Paris as knowledgeable explorers. Walking, cycling, bus, subway, we will discover the Light City. From the "Ile de La Cité", origins of Paris, passing through "Le Quartier Latin" and "Le Marais", "Palais Royal", "La Concorde" and "Champs Elysées", "Trocadéro" and "Champs de Mars" , "Saint Germain" and countless squares, streets and corners. Paris will reveal to us that it is a city-museum, a city in constant movement, actively participating in universal history.

Finally we will know the magnificence of the time of the "Ancien Régime", that is to say the time of the kings of France through fascinating playful-pedagogical activities in the Châ;teau de Versailles, abode of Louis XIV, the "Sun King", and in the Castle of Chambord, the most sumptuous of the castles of the Loire River and summer residence of King François I°.

After this interdisciplinary trip, students will return to Mexico with a new vision of the world, based on tolerance and respect, and with greater cognitive tools to continue discovering and valuing different civilizations and cultures.
